My 40 years’ experience
I have 40 years of experience in the nuclear power area in two Finnish power companies (Fortum and TVO), and in the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority and in a nuclear plant supplier company, as well as in the international OECD NEA organization. I have participated as an advisor/expert in design, licensing, and project management, or often as a responsible project manager in the development and implementation of the Finnish nuclear power plant projects and in improving safety and performance of operating units. I have also taken part in similar roles in high-level assessment work of foreign nuclear power plant projects.
My project experiences have given me extensive understanding of the impact of nuclear power plant design changes on safety and commercial risks and benefits as well as on the balance between construction costs and long-term operating costs. All my experience is in use in NUCONEVA ltd.
I am more than eager to contribute my experience to the development of large or Small modular reactors (SMR) projects.

I have unique, extensive experience in developing and improving the Nuclear Power Plant procedures. I have worked in key positions in several nuclear power plant projects and continuous power operation. I can help in all areas of a NPP project. Successful projects
I have successfully managed the planning and licensing of new nuclear power plants, as well as the long-term planning and license renewal projects of the operating nuclear power units. Following examples include large projects where more than 40 Finnish or/and international nuclear technology specialist worked in my teams:
1. Director of the safety design consultation of the VVER-91 design (1993-95) (Tianwan 1-4 units are VVER-1000/1200 models in China and they are designed mainly with Finnish regulations)
2. Leader of the two sub-projects of the relicensing and about 10% power increase of Loviisa 1 and 2 units (first reactor power increase project of VVER-440 type units, 1996-97). Project continued with reorganisation of operation and maintenance and building of new Ageing Management Program of Loviisa units in year 2001.
3. Leader of Fortum’s support for the Olkiluoto 3 project in processing tenders, modifying, and evaluating of proposed designs, and selecting the final plant supplier (2002-2003). (In 2003-2004, at TVO, I also participated as a leading technical expert in the preparation of the Construction License application for Olkiluoto 3)
4. Responsible leader and author of most important part in the preparation of the technical, licensing and implementation requirements of the Loviisa 3 nuclear power plant project (2008-2010)
In these projects numerous modifications to the original design features of nuclear power plant type were designed, assessed, and decided by me and my teams based on technical, safety and commercial benefits for construction and optimization of 60 years operation of a nuclear unit.
