My name is Olli Nevander. My journey in this fascinating field started many years ago as a radiation monitoring worker in Loviisa and Olkiluoto NPPs in Finland. Finland is a country known for its stringent safety regulations and its high-performing nuclear power plants. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with two of Finland’s foremost power companies, Fortum and TVO, as well as the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority. I also enjoyed an enriching tenure with a nuclear plant supplier company for Hanhikivi project and had the honour of contributing to the esteemed international OECD NEA organization in international scientific work. During years I have been an eager participant in Olkiluoto 3, Loviisa 3, Olkiluoto 4 and Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant projects in Finland. Unfortunately, only one of them, Olkiluoto 3 (EPR, 1600 MW) has reached the power operation stage.
In my various roles, I had the opportunity to delve into a diverse range of tasks, from design and licensing to project and quality management. Many times, I have taken the responsibility as the project manager, taking care on the development and implementation of Finnish nuclear power plant projects. Additionally, I have increased my expertise in improving the safety and performance of operating units in Finland. I have also participated in the high-level evaluation of foreign nuclear power plant projects and their actual design work. This has given me a unique, international perspective and an understanding on best practices in the nuclear power design and construction.

In a world increasingly dependent on digital connectivity, I saw the need to create a space where I could give information on my company and share my insights with the upcoming generation of nuclear power professionals and provide information on recent development in nuclear business area.
